When you think of fashion, hanging out of a helicopter at 1,000ft doesn't immediately spring to mind. However when it comes to the brand new Marks & Spencer collection it is exactly that.
The high street store has teamed up with esteemed photographer Tommy Clarke for a brand new capsule collection of swim shorts featuring some of Tommy’s most insane shots.
Clarke is known for his arial view style of photography and is often found hanging out of a helicopter over a beach to get some killer shots - when M&S Menswear’s Head of Design, James Doidge saw Tommy’s insane photography on Instagram the composition and colour he knew he had to work with Clarke to tell the story of summer in a new collection. On the announcement of the collection, Doidge said “The photographs featured within the collection highlight the breadth and beauty of Tommy’s work, and combining contemporary landscape photography with swim shorts, t-shirts and flip flops has resulted in a bold and fun range that reminds of us of holidays. Our customers love bright and bold clothes for their summer wardrobes, and we are excited to take this one step further with Tommy’s exclusive photographic prints that tell the story of summer.”
The seven-piece summer collection ranges from £9.50 for a pair of printed flip flops to £22.50 for a pair of shorts. Tommy said “I was thrilled when Marks & Spencer approached me. I had never thought about my photos being printed on clothing before, but understanding James’ vision and growing up with M&S it seemed like the perfect partnership. Watching my photographs being printed onto clothing has been a fascinating experience, and the collection launches at the same time as my first gallery opens in London so it is going to be an exciting few months.”
The quick-dry shorts will be the perfect addition to your suitcase this summer, my personal favourite swim shorts are printed with an amazing shot of Carbis Bay in Cornwall as well as the matching tee. The packed out beach faded down into the ocean makes for an epic looking pair of shorts.
The collection is now available online and in selected stores - definitely grab something from the collection whilst you can, Marks & Spencer’s summer collections always sell out quick. You can shop the collection here.
