Check out my latest addition to my autumn wardrobe!Read More
For around a year now I have sworn by Tom Ford’s grooming range, using multiple products on a daily basis. However, recently I found that for some reason my skin had changed and the products were leaving me feeling like a total oil slick - it was time for a change.
I put out a call on Twitter for suggestions and you guys came through! My mate, and fellow blogger Robbie suggested I gave Kiehl’s a try, after hearing him rave about them I thought it was time to give them a go and see how they work for me. I believe if you go into a Kiehl’s store you can get a full consultation in which they tell you what products you should use for your skin type. Sadly we don't have a Kiehl’s anywhere near where I live, so I thought I’d risk it and give a few products a try, I picked them all up from House of Fraser. I obviously love them, which is why I thought I would let you know which products I have been using over the past few weeks. Here’s how my current skincare routine stands…
The first step goes one of two ways, either wash or scrub. Every other day I use a scub on my face to give it just a bit of a deeper clean, the rest of the week I use a daily wash. Currently the scrub I am using is the Kiehl’s Exfoliating Cleanser, it’s from their Age Defence range and gives you a ‘refreshed and younger looking appearance’ so I must look about 3 months old once I’ve used it. The wash I am using is from their Facial Fuel range - the Energising Face Wash is a gel cleanser that I tend to use in the mornings. It leaves you feeling fresh and ready to start the day, it also smells pretty good too!
After cleansing my face, I then use toner - currently I am using the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner. I decided to choose the oil-free one as I have quite combination skin, so I didn’t want to end up with a mirror-like forehead from the oil. I’ve been really impressed with it, it leaves my face feeling tight and fresh.
Once the toner has dried nicely on my face I use the Eye Alert cream. it’s a really nice thick gel that helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles - it’s super refreshing, but I tend to only really use it in the mornings as I find it helps to wake me up a bit easier (only a bit). I also use the Facial Fuel No-Shine Lip Balm - it’s great for keeping your lips from drying out, but also won’t make it look like you’ve put lip gloss on, it’s also got a super fresh mint flavour.
The final step of my daily routine is the super-famous Ultra Facial Cream - it now comes with Factor 30 which is massively important to wear on your face every day, and is a nice thick day cream moisturiser. I think most people that use Kiehl’s use the Ultra Facial Cream, it’s a 24-hour moisturiser that doesn't sit heavy on the skin at all, I would highly recommend it!
So far I am loving the Kiehl’s products, they work a treat on my skin and don't cost a tonne either. Big thanks to Robbie and everyone else that recommended I check out the Kiehl’s brand, if you haven't already I would highly suggest checking them out!
Brass monkeys more than describes the last couple of days, it’s been ridiculously cold right across the country and wrapping up has been a must…or just staying in doors and eating cake till 9pm 🙄
I have wanted a shearling coat for ages now, something warm and casual that I can chuck on over a jumper or shirt and a pair of jeans. Shearling is great for styling up or down so it’s definitely a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe.
I hadn't found the right one, I knew exactly what I was looking for as I had a really particular style in mind. When browsing ASOS one day I found the exact jacket I had been looking for, slim fitting and plain on the outside with a soft tan colour, and super fluffy on the inside to keep me warm.
I have to say I am actually really impressed with just how fluffy it is inside! Often brands will just put a little bit of fur lining round the cuffs, ASOS have packed this bad boy full of the stuff, right up the sleeves and all inside the body, it’s super warm and really comfortable. It’s super thick and is perfect for this time of the year, especially on these ultra frosty mornings!
I paired the jacket with a simple pair of Topman spray-on skinny jeans in black, some Nike Stefan Janoski’s in khaki and my gradient blue to grey M&S jumper from their always-stylish Autograph collection.
Introducing a sporty element to your look is increasingly popular at the moment and whether going for a complete sport luxe look or just adding some small elements to your day-to-day look there’s plenty you can do to style up one of the latest trends.
A couple of weeks ago the guys over at Jacamo got in touch to ask if they could send me some stuff. They gave me a few different style to pick from and I decided to hit up their gym wear section of their website to see what items I could pull for a cool hybrid look.
I put together this mixed look combining my usual day-to-day look of black jeans and a pair of sneakers, I added the teal Adidas t-shirt that Jacamo sent and also thought I would style it up with a pair of Ray Ban sunnies and a snapback.
I think the look works really well and I don’t often wear a coloured t-shirt so it’s definitely nice for a change! You can pick the tee up from Jacamo for £25, just click here.
The whole saying of you can’t get something for nothing simply doesn't apply to this post. Now I love a sale as much as the next guy…maybe even more. Heck, who actually wants to pay full price when they could be knocking a few quid off? When Love the Sales got in touch, you know I jumped at the chance to work with them.
Love the Sales is an online destination for sales lovers. They collate sales from all your favourite brands in one place and cover categories such as style, grooming and homeware. It’s basically the tool you need in life to help save some serious dollar.
The folks over at Love the Sales challenged me to put together a super casual look, they call that a challenge?! I picked a couple of really cool items to style up my final look, and I have to say not only would I have saved a pretty penny, but I am chuffed with the look, too!
I picked these Topman spray on skinny jeans, because as you know, they’re the only fit I wear! If I can save some money on them, then I certainly will!! I picked these ones as they’re slightly distressed with a little tear to the knees, I have been loving the ripped knee look at the minute, but have only really been able to find it in black - so I was pretty chuffed to bag these in blue!
The second item I picked up from Love the Sales was a pretty cool Jack & Jones shirt. To be completely honest, I haven't really worn Jack & Jones before and never really paid the brand much thought, but this shirt was a real find! It’s super lightweight which makes it perfect for this spring/summer season, I am a big fan! It’s also perfect for dressing up or dressing down.
With the whole look I paired my new favourite things, the Yeezy Boost 350’s in Oxford Tan - these things are like damn slippers, and whilst they weren't from Love the Sales I just had to share them!!
If you love sales, don't forget to click here to check out Love the Sales!
I was super excited to be asked to partner with my old friends Vision Express on the launch of the new Exclusive Brands collections. The other week I headed down to their flagship Oxford Street store in London for the very exciting launch of the collection.
The collection launch was attended by loads of bloggers, models and fashion journos - the event on a whole was hosted by X Factor and celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard. Exclusive Brands are all about making a statement, the collections are for people who don't just want a pair of glasses, they want a piece of style.
The best part about these designer-quality specs is the price, I personally wear the In Style collection on a daily basis and would compare the quality to the likes of Ray Ban and Ted Baker…not bad for just a fraction of the price!
My sister, Katie from www.thestylinguist.com and I attended the event together and got the chance to sit down and do a bit of filming with Gemma Sheppard, who like the styling-queen she is, managed to guide us around the store and help us pick the best styles for our faces…check out the video below, and don’t forget to sub me on YouTube! Make sure to keep your eyes peeled on the blog, I get to pick up my new specs in a couple of weeks, and will be sharing my thoughts right here…exciting!!
You can check out all the information you could possibly need about the fantastic Exclusive Brands by clicking here. Don’t forget you can also join the chat on social media using #ExpressYourself.
If you follow me on social, you’ll know I’ve had a cool and exciting project coming up with the chaps at Burton Menswear. Well, it’s here! I was recently contacted by them and tasked with creating a chilled look for a very specific smart occasion. The occasion I was given was a wedding abroad, after donning my suit and waiting what seemed like years for a spot of sun, I headed out on the shoot.
I think for an abroad wedding you want to be comfortable, chilled and effortless. The ‘less is more’ approach definitely works better when it comes to being abroad. The light coloured suit offers a fantastic base to build off of for the overall look.
I love a good wedding and I think it’s so important to look your best, whether you’re the groom, the father of the bride or the best man - it’s all in the suit and how you style it up! Here’s exactly how you should be styling up a suit when you head to the South of France for your best mate’s wedding.
You want a nice light suit, especially if the wedding is on the beach or in amongst the amazing sandstone buildings, the Slim Fit Grey Cotton Suit that I am wearing is perfect for this. The material is actually quite light which makes it a great choice for warmer climes - plus the slim fitting tailoring makes it a really nice, modern looking fit, especially if you’re of a slimmer build. This suit is actually perfect to keep in your wardrobe at all times, it’s great to dress up or down and offers total dapper versatility, both with and without a tie.
Soft and neutral tones are great for weddings abroad, blacks and dark blues can look a bit harsh plus you’ll be absolutely boiling when your suit absorbs the summer rays! The bottoms of the legs roll up really nicely, which is great if the wedding is on the beach and you fancy a paddle…it just looks super chilled and comfortable.
Style it up
Often it’s not necessarily what you wear, it’s how you wear it. Adding cool additional touches is the ultimate way to get the most from an outfit. As we’re talking a warm Mediterranean wedding I think it’s all about the shades. I’m rocking a pair of super cool Black Matte Clubmasters which literally cost twelve quid but look and feel like much higher quality. These are literally summer all wrapped up in a pair of sunnies, and they’re possibly one of the best ways you can make your wedding look go from hot to sizzling. The white skinny fit shirt, which you can grab for £22 is great for offsetting against the dark sunglasses, and for keeping you cool!
The great thing about this suit, and of course attending weddings abroad is that you don’t have to wear a tie! I’ve shown you the look both with and without the tie, and both look smart and effortlessly cool. If you fancy wearing a tie, you should of course pick one to match your date’s dress. Burton has a huge range of ties available, the one I am wearing is the Slim Neutral Patterned Tie - actually the key word in this is neutral and is the one theme I would recommend carrying through the whole look, this £10 tie is great for creating a clean and really fresh look. I’ve teamed it with a gold tie clip, again to keep the really fresh tones. At just £10 these are a real steal, plus they come with some cufflinks which is great for a double cuffed shirt!
I’d always recommend accessorising, a bit of man jewellery never went amiss I’m wearing the Smart Ridge Bangle, this is a super cool detailed bangle that’ll fit most wrists, it just helps to make the suit a little more casual, comfortable and smart looking. The other important thing is shoes! Now, not going to lie, if it’s a beach wedding I’d be totally happy going barefoot - however in this instance I chose to roll up the legs of the trousers and wear some super smart Burgundy Tassel Loafers, a bit of a steal at £18!
Now all that’s left to do is add a buttonhole, rather than putting mine in the usual buttonhole position, I opted to pop mine in my breast pocket, it’s a great way of replacing a pocket square and adds a cool dynamic to the look.
It’s the perfect look for a nice chilled wedding, the look is adaptable to help you stay comfy in warmer climates but is also crazy affordable, helping you offset the cost of your plane ticket!
I’M OFFICIALLY 21!!! Today is my Birthday and I thought what better way to celebrate than to blog about my new favourite thing…my Topman camel coat!
So, camel coats are pretty big business right now, everyone’s wearing them and I thought I would invest in my own. I headed straight for Topman, I knew exactly which coat I wanted and I was prepared to fight to the death for it…and I nearly had to.
There was only one in my size left in my local Topman store so I did the really mature thing of basically racing another guy to get the coat…I took home the coat, and a medal for 1st place nifty bastard 👊🏼
Camel coats are great for so many different style, whether super smart or ultra casual it just works so well. My coat has a bit of length which is great because it keeps you warm but not too warm, as you’d usually wear it open.
I decided to pair my coat with a red plaid shirt for a bit of colour, a white crew-neck tee - which I have to thank my man Oliver Cheshire for recommending when I had a chat with him last week, a pair of my signature black spray-on skinny jeans from Topman and some black zip suede boots…there’s a lot of black going on, I know!
It’s a great spring outfit and I am loving layering shirts, tees and coats right now - hopefully as the days get a bit warmer I can just wear the coat with a white crew tee. Topman actually have a huge range of camel coats to pick from, you can click here to see the full range or click here to check out my exact coat…it’s on offer for £50 right now so I would definitely recommend checking it out!!
Well, I’m off to go and wear party hats and eat copious amounts of cake…you’re only 21 once, right? 🎂🎉
So today I thought I’d introduce you to a wicked new brand I have been involved with recently. The very cool folks over at TW Steel dropped a little gift in my PO BOX this last week for me to check out, and I loved it so much I thought I’d share it with you lot.
So if you haven't heard of TW Steel before here’s a quick bit of background - they are a Dutch watchmaker founded in 2005 and are renowned for their chunky industrial style watches. They very kindly sent me over a watch of my very own which I have been wearing for a couple of days and love.
I personally think a watch is so important for your style, watches finish off an outfit really well and if your collection is as huge as mine, you can chuck on a different one to match the look you’re trying to achieve. The Canteen ‘CS1’ watch that TW Steel sent me is a chunky, large-faced watch with a thigh leather strap - it feels like it’s got some real substance to it, after all it has an impressive 100m water resistance!
The look is super vintage and I think it would look great with a smart slim fit suit, maybe even a dinner suit if you’ve got a posh event coming up! This might sound weird but I appreciate the fact the ‘tick’ is pretty quiet - I hate those watches that you put on your bedside table and then have to lay awake all night and hear ticking for all eternity.
The dial is hidden under the large case, this spins off on its hinge and reveals the dial. Now, I don't know if this serves a purpose or if it’s just for show but I think it might seal it and possibly help the water resistance.
This watch is a must-have if you’re looking for a nice smart watch - you can get it straight from the guys over at TW Steel for £199 by clicking here!
It’s my favourite awards night of them all tonight, the BRITs! Whilst I was invited to go along (and go to a bloody awesome afterparty) I unfortunately had to decline…broken hearted! However I’ve done the next best thing and teamed up with my friends over at M&S to bring you some dapper award style!
When you’re on the red carpet and headed to awards, you want to look your best, dress dapper and of course, be noticed! With this look you’ll stand out and have the respect and attention of style aficionados the world over!
The Limited Edition navy tuxedo is a super modern tux in a dapper super slim fit with a jacquard pattern - it’s amazing quality and will feel comfortable all night long, no matter what parties you end up at! You can pick this up over here, it’s £55 for the jacket and £44 for the trousers, a pretty good price I reckon!
With this tux you can pair it simply with a white shirt, I’d personally recommend this Pure Cotton Slim Fit Shirt from the M&S Collection - the Collection items are such good quality and the slim fit cut will go great with your suit if you leave it unbuttoned for a really comfortable look! This is £45 and available here!
Every dapper man around knows a bow tie is the way to go…and not just any bow tie…a tie-it-yourself bow tie! This M&S pure silk bow tie will help you look the part and it’s only £12.50…now you just need to learn how to tie it!
If you’re going for the ultimate dapper look, these M&S Collection Toe Cap shoes are the perfect addition to your smooth evening outfit - and at £65 it’s a pretty good deal, too! Or, you could pull an Ed Sheeran and rock some sneakers for the casual look!
I’ve been closely affiliated with UK high street retailer M&S for some time now and I feel like every time they launch a new collection all I do is say how amazing it is and how much I love it.
This is one of those posts…
The Autograph range has been pretty strong for a while and the spring range is looking pretty damn good, too! M&S say the spring collection is focussed around ‘smart casual dressing’ - perfect for all those garden parties and rooftop drinks receptions you’ll be attending, no doubt. The range is all about relaxed tailoring, neutrals, texture and detail and there’s a mix of sleek suits, simple colour palettes and textured pieces building the key looks for this season.
There’s some awesome printed shirts which would go great with jeans and shoes/oxford boots for one of those occasions that doesn't deserve a full suit and the range features a palette of neutrals, monochrome and greys which forms a great base of the outfit and is great to add a dash of colour to, as well!
The lighter items are great for milder days, however we’re British and ‘mild’ is about a common as seeing a flying pig so the statement black wool pea coat or textured black and white weave jumper form essential layering options.
With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, why not treat your man to some seriously good spring style courtesy of the M&S Autograph range - you can check out the collection by clicking here or by visiting your local M&S store…you’ll be seriously impressed!
You hear that? That is indeed ‘da sound of da police’ - I’ve teamed up again with lifestyle brand Police for another blog post - if you remember back in the summer we worked on some cool sunglasses photoshoots, well it’s winter and whilst sunnies are still very much okay to wear…you might want to focus more around the wrist, I’m talking watches.
This right here is the London watch from Police’s latest collection. It’s a really nice quality watch, it’s got a bit of weight to it so it doesn’t feel like you’re going to lose it in the first high wind. It feels really comfortable to wear and doesn't feel too big on your wrist, some watches are just a bit ridiculous and it feels like you’re wearing a goddamn grandfather clock on your wrist.
It’s a great watch to add to your collection, especially if like me, you’re currently following the camel coat trend as the London looks pretty dapper with a suit and a camel long coat.
You’ll never forget what day it is, it’s got a handy little date window so you can easily plan your next night on the town. It’s just a really cool watch, it’s got nothing crazy and special about it and that’s what makes it really awesome…it’s simple and sometimes that’s the suavest way to be!
If you want to buy this watch you can, I’ve seen it on a few different websites, H Samuels being one - I picked them because I know how reliable they are especially for altering and link removal. You can click here to check it out on their website. Or, if you’re just browsing you can click here to head to the official Police webpage.
Did you have the best Christmas?! I hope you did!
Ah there’s nothing better than being gentry, right? I recently look a stroll around my house and grounds (ha, I wish) because that’s just something Lord Squire does. I thought i’d snap a few pics along the way and show you my winter style.
Plaid and black play a pretty strong game in my winter wardrobe, nothing beats a nice warm plaid shirt. I tend to wear them in different ways, with this shirt I simply did up the top button and wore a dark undershirt but sometimes you can just leave it completely open, I just found it slightly chilly.
My jeans are of course from Topman. Those of you who are established followers of mine will know that the only brand of jeans I ever wear (and actually own) are Topman’s Spray on Skinny, I love the fit and just find them super comfortable, actually the pair I am wearing are about 5 years old…a pure quality item!
My coat is one of the more recent purchases, is beauty is from River Island and is hands down the best coat I have ever worn, it’s warm, comfortable and looks pretty swanky too. It’s got a vibe of shearling about it but not too much, I don’t want to go for the full Del Boy…
Finally my boots, which clearly weren't made for walking on 16th Century cobble stones (or maybe I’m not…) are from Dune, they’re a really soft leather and I genuinely think I could walk for hours in these. I love Chelsea boots, they’re great to complete the look and these ones in particular are the comfiest boots I have ever worn.
What is your winter staple?
Okay, so it’s the most anticipated day of the year and you didn't even know it. Throughout the year I’ve been watching fashionable chaps like a hawk so that finally in December I could compile a list of the 20 best-dressed men of 2015. There’s actors, singers, DJ’s, Bloggers and internet personalities thrown in the mix.
Take a browse of the list in full below by flicking through the pics - then let me know below who you’d have picked as your Best Dressed Man of 2015. I think you’ll agree it’s a pretty extensive list!
I'm British and if there's something us Brits stereotypically love more than tea is a bloody good jumper (along with the word bloody, of course). My friends over at Marks & Spencer know how much I love a jumper and I got home to a surprise package from them containing a jumper from their new Autograph collection.Read More
