I was on the look out for a cool location to shoot for my Hyundai IONIQ blog post, which is coming very soon, when I found an abandoned RAF base not too far from my house. The chipped runway remains, now surrounded by fields and was once home to the Lancaster Bomber in World War II.Read More
We’re in a world where your style and fashion choices get noticed on nearly a daily basis. Depending on your social activity, work schedule, and just how often you go outside, it has become a normal part of our day to day. You can’t tell me you’ve never noticed anything about someone’s choice in fashion. Either way we’re here to talk about bearded gentleman and some of the great styles that suit them well. These styles may not suit you specifically, but you might
find something you like. Of course a beard could just go with anything, but what about styles that really make a great beard stand out?
The Lumbersexual This niche style goes great with a beard. It’s almost required to be a lumbersexual. Typically found with plaid clothing, jeans, and sometimes straps to hold your pants up. The lumbersexual is a great look to sport time to time. Now that we’re currently in the winter months it makes it the perfect time to find you some suitable clothing and give this style a try. You may just spark a hidden flame In your “special other” that you didn’t know where there before.
Some other features to note about this style:
- The hair is usually a mid-length to shorter cut.
- Pairs well with lean or muscular guys.
- Plaid is the key element of the look.
- Ripped jeans are a plus.
There’s some back and forth discussion about the hipster look. Some people don’t like the look, but from what I’ve found its typically because of the way some guys try to pull it off. They tend to make it a “I’m better than you” look which often is a part of their attitude and personality. There’s a couple key features to help pull this look off. A great pair of sunglasses or even clear glasses paired with a fit button up shirt, dressy vest, khaki pants, and even a fedora if you can pull it off.
The look changes to keep up with latest trends. Here’s the more exact definition of hipster: “a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.” Another key aspect of being hipster is maintaining your body hair . You’ll always noticed a very clean appearance in this style. Nice sharp hair lines, beard lines, and if shirtless a great manscaped appearance.
It’s All Business
As we see beards become more mainstream you’ll see them more frequently in the work place. Finally, businesses are starting to loosen up a little with requiring men to shave their facial hair. With this moving trend, we’re going to see a lot more business fashion with bearded gentleman. One of my favorite looks is a well-fitting dark suit, only a watch accessory, and a beard that’s ponytailed down. This does require a longer beard, but it’s one of my most favorite bearded styles.
What’s Your Favorite?
There’s of course many more styles out there to choose from. Which ones are your favorite to see guys with beards wearing? I hope you enjoyed this article and please share you thoughts with a comment below. I’d love to see what some of you think and your own personal favorite styles.
Hola from a very sunny and beautiful Menorca!
I recently got talking to the guys over at Pull & Bear about my summer campaign #THISISSUMMER, and they asked me if they could become part of the campaign in a summery shoot. The beautiful city down the road from our villa just fit the shoot perfectly, and it allowed me to become a total tourist and snap a few pics of the buildings etc, too!
I styled up the outfit with a few additions to give it that tourist edge, there’s so much to see and loads of little side streets to mooch down in the city so I made sure to take full advantage!
Pull & Bear hit me up with a few items to pick from, but for this outfit, as we were also going for a meal out, I wanted to pick something that would work both out and about sightseeing and also be fitting for a nice meal on the marina.
I am a pretty big fan of the ripped jean look, so I opted for some ripped denim shorts from Pull & Bear, as you’ll probably gather from past blog posts, I am a fan of black especially when it comes to jeans or shorts, so these are pretty perfect for me. They came with a drawstring through them but I wasn't much of a fan of how they looked with it so I snipped it out. You can pick these up in grey (which I will probably pick up, too!) and they’re a complete bargain right now for £12.99! I personally am super impressed with the quality of the denim, it’s even comfortable in the heat. You can pick these up here.
Now, I don’t usually wear much colour at all, monochrome is definitely what I tend to opt for…however the guys at Pull & Bear sent me a pink tee and actually I don’t think it looks too bad! It’s got a dipped hem at the back and is a great comfortable tee, it isn't too slim fit so it won't be getting all up on your body when you’re warm! Also, I was pretty impressed at how lightweight it is, there’s nothing worse than getting all sweaty in a thick, slim fit tee! You can pick up this tee in Rose Pink or Sky Blue, great for those pastel trends. It’s a pretty reasonable £7.99 and can be picked up here.
I teamed up the outfit with my Moonrock Yeezy Boost 350s as I wanted my feet to feel comfortable walking around the city. I also wore my Apple Watch, which I am rarely found without, a beige suede snapback which really compliments the tee, my mirrored Ray-Ban Clubmasters and my leather backpack which is just the right size to carry my life in!
Oliver Cheshire is owning the menswear scene right now, there's not a single FROW he hasn't graced and is a hot favourite for mens lifestyle mags. You probably know him as the face of M&S but I wanted to delve deeper in to Oli's style, inspiration and top tips for you aspiring models. I caught up with Oliver to get an update on what he's up to right now.
How would you best describe your overall look?
My style is a variety of lots of different things. I love the preppy look, but I still have a soft spot for leather jackets and rock 'n' roll Chelsea boots with black jeans. At the moment bomber jackets are everywhere and I love them, I wore one to the Brits recently, I think you can wear them with almost anything. I also grew up around a lot of sportswear-based fashion which is massively on trend and wearable, as well as very functional in today's fast paced society.
What do you think it takes to become a successful model?
You need to feel comfortable with yourself and the way you look in front of the camera, you also need to be able to listen and take direction well. Personality plays a big part too, and obviously you need to keep in shape, you don’t want to be too slim or too muscly as your body and face are your tools. I also think determination and resilience are also key, it can take a lot of knock backs and no’s before you finally get your break, and you can’t ever give up.
How long does it take you to get ready for a red carpet appearance, what’s the process?
It takes me about 30 minutes to get ready that's including the shower hair and moisturiser. The thing that takes the longest is picking my outfit and making sure it is tailored to perfection. The key to grooming in my eyes is less is more, find what hairstyle suits you and find creams that suit your skin and stick to them.
Have you ever had a style disaster? Tell me about it…
Sometimes I look back at shirts I've worn in the past and think Oh No what was I thinking when they're too loud. Also I've had a few style disasters when I've tried to pull off trends and they haven't really worked for me or they were just awful in the first place but I thought they were cool at the time.
Who is your ultimate style icon?
David Beckham has always been a style icon of mine. I was a 90s kid and when I was younger he was everywhere. He took risks with his fashion and that is something I loved, he wasn’t scared to try new things and he managed to set trends at the same time. Now he is older he knows what suits him and he sticks to it.
What would you say is a must-have style essential that every man should own?
I think everyman should own a good quality white crew neck t-shirt because it will go with everything you own. It has to be high quality cotton though, so it feels good against your skin and doesn’t get ruined in the washing machine.
What is the one trend you’d never rock?
Being on photo shoots, I've pretty much been dressed in most trends, but there are a few I personally wouldn't dress myself in for days out, such as, socks and sandals or flared trousers. But hey, never say never.
What does casual style look like in the world of Cheshire?
I love casualwear, there has been such a lean towards the smart casual trend recently with sports luxe and athleisure trends. I love to mix casual pieces with something more formal – i.e. mixing a tracksuit with a smart pea coat or a tux with a pair of trainers. Autograph menswear is based around smart casual dressing, with a big sports luxe influence. In the summer collection short suits are introduced to create a new look with a focus on style, texture and detail.
What’s your one ultimate style tip for men the world over to help them look photoshoot ready?
The fit of the clothes is key on any photoshoot, they are often pinned back by a stylist. It's also a good idea to get a good night’s sleep before your shoot so you don't have puffy eyes on set.
What’s your all-time favourite piece from Marks & Spencer’s Autograph collections?
My all-time favourite piece is the Autograph black wool and leather bomber jacket. It is the perfect transitional, layering piece; on colder days I wear it with a roll neck jumper and once it warms up I will style it over a casual crew neck t-shirt.
The new M&S Autograph summer 2016 collection is available online and in stores now. I personally want everything...you can shop the collection by clicking here!
It’s my favourite awards night of them all tonight, the BRITs! Whilst I was invited to go along (and go to a bloody awesome afterparty) I unfortunately had to decline…broken hearted! However I’ve done the next best thing and teamed up with my friends over at M&S to bring you some dapper award style!
When you’re on the red carpet and headed to awards, you want to look your best, dress dapper and of course, be noticed! With this look you’ll stand out and have the respect and attention of style aficionados the world over!
The Limited Edition navy tuxedo is a super modern tux in a dapper super slim fit with a jacquard pattern - it’s amazing quality and will feel comfortable all night long, no matter what parties you end up at! You can pick this up over here, it’s £55 for the jacket and £44 for the trousers, a pretty good price I reckon!
With this tux you can pair it simply with a white shirt, I’d personally recommend this Pure Cotton Slim Fit Shirt from the M&S Collection - the Collection items are such good quality and the slim fit cut will go great with your suit if you leave it unbuttoned for a really comfortable look! This is £45 and available here!
Every dapper man around knows a bow tie is the way to go…and not just any bow tie…a tie-it-yourself bow tie! This M&S pure silk bow tie will help you look the part and it’s only £12.50…now you just need to learn how to tie it!
If you’re going for the ultimate dapper look, these M&S Collection Toe Cap shoes are the perfect addition to your smooth evening outfit - and at £65 it’s a pretty good deal, too! Or, you could pull an Ed Sheeran and rock some sneakers for the casual look!
So if you can’t tell by my bright red nose…winter has officially arrived. Snow is drifting its way across the country and temperatures are hitting the minuses…so what better time to go an photograph some jeans with the knees ripped out…
I bang on in every blog post about Topman’s spray-on skinny jeans because A) they are my favourites and B) I am hoping for some free pairs (JOKE, before anyone gets shitty with me…) - spray ons are my go-to, I think I look really weird in jeans that are baggy, I look like I'm trying to be a cool 90’s dude but clearly failed.
On browsing in my local Topman I came across a section of ripped knee spray-ons and I literally had no idea which ones to buy. I went for the black ones because I like black things to match my soul…plus they pretty much go with everything I wear in my winter wardrobe. They had some different blue shades in the same style which I did contemplate but I just didn't feel brave enough to move away from my staple black jeans.
Upon buying, I dropped a little Tweet to express my excitement…Topman swiftly replied insinuating these are definitely not for the current weather…clearly I was feeling brave (not drunk) and headed out to get some cool snaps in the chilly weather…the snow had literally just melted and I instantly regretted every choice I had made up to that point….a model’s life, eh! 😏
These are pretty much my new favourite jeans, I teamed them with a Pull & Bear denim shirt my winter coat from River Island and my Dune chelsea boots which I definitely need more of because even I’m starting to get bored of seeing them in every blog post I do 😬
These jeans are available right over here for £38...I paid £40 in store and now feel I've been robbed £2...
I’m going to guess you didn't know that in a recent Jacamo survey, 40% of British lads suffer from ‘manxiety’ due to their friends teasing them about their body image and a further 34% of men say that this is added to by not being able to find decent fitting clothes.Read More
