Can you believe how quickly autumn has crept up on us? Honestly, it feels like spring was just a few weeks ago, and this up and down weather certainly doesn't help when deciding what to wear for the day. I tend to update my wardrobe with some key pieces each season to make sure that I have all the latest trends to mix and match throughout the season.
This autumn I have been checking out John Lewis, I am sure I don’t need to do any introduction for the UK’s most famous department store, but I have been seriously impressed by the effort they have put into their menswear collections, adding new brands and making sure they’re on the very top of the seasonal trends.
One of their latest additions comes in the form of Scandinavian brand Samsøe & Samsøe. The luxury brand offers some chunky knit jumpers, smart-casual shirts and easy to wear jackets make for a fantastically versatile collection, I especially like the Shields Jacket, a black jacket with really cool gold zip detailing. It’s the type of jacket that you could wear during the day for a really casual look, or dress up with a shirt and smart shoes in the evening for a comfortable yet smart night out.
The fall collection is perfect for updating your wardrobe, with lots of earthy, neutral tones that you’ll definitely want to wrap up in as the cooler mornings - I love a flannel shirt, their Liam flannel shirt comes in a pearl blue colour, a great colour for layering, like the Kronos crew, team these with a pair of black jeans and some Chelsea style boots and you’ve got yourself a really good look.
I’ve got to say I am really impressed with John Lewis, they’ve got a great collection together with Samsøe & Samsøe and I’ll certainly be picking myself up some items from the collection if you want to shop the full range, click here and take a look! HAPPY BANK HOLIDAY!!!! 🎉
I don’t know about you guys but that extra lay in this weekend has worked wonders. I feel like a new man! So, the weather this Bank Holiday weekend has been phenom, so warm and super sunny! Summer feels like it’s on its way which gave me the opportunity to get out and shoot some new blog pics, I’ve taken a couple of weeks off just simply because I have a few projects being worked on which I’ll share with you soon and I needed to give them all my focus!
If you know a bit about style, you’ll know how crazy crazy popular neutral tones are right now. Beige, cream, khaki…loads of earthy tones and neutral shades are exactly what you want in your outfit, and one place that has them in abundance is Topman!
I picked up this cool neutral Sand Hoodie from Topman, it’s got a really nice slouchy fit and is perfect for this super-hot trend. Speaking of super-hot…you’ll stay super cool in this hoodie this spring summer season because it’s actually really thin and light! I was pretty surprised when I first put it on, as it seemed like a pretty substantial hoodie, not something I would tend to buy this time of year due to the warmer days!
I reckon this should be a piece you pack for your holidays, if it chills off in the evenings chuck this bad boy on, not only will it keep you warm, but it will also show off your killer tan. I picked this up for a pretty reasonable £25, which I really don’t think is too bad at all for such a key wardrobe piece! You can click here to check it out!
I didn't want to go too over board with the neutrals, hence pairing it with some black Topman spray on skinny jeans, which if you read my blog often, you’ll know these are all I wear! They’ve got so many awesome styles within the spray on skinny category, worth checking out here. I was also going to wear my Yeezy Oxford Tans but they looked a bit too matchy with the hoodie, and the whole thing just didn't really work. Instead I’ve got my khaki Nike Stefan Janoski sneakers on, which I wrote about a few weeks back, they’re seriously comfortable!
What’s your summer style staple? Let me know in the comments below! ✌🏼
Last week the very cool and extremely stylish bunch from Harvey Nichols got in touch and asked if they could show me around their newly refurbished and relaunched mens department, definitely not one to turn down!
I headed over to the Knightsbridge store, and down into the depths of man-styling…which was actually super easy to find, just head to the nearest stairs and then down to basement level - I’ve been told, and this is a little exclusive from me to you…the menswear department is getting its own street-level entrance, so you don't have to weave through the makeup counters to get downstairs, pretty cool if you ask me!
My Access All Areas tour let me snoop around the two-floor menswear department, and I’ve got to say…I am pretty blown away! Not only is the design something of a work of art, but it feels well thought out too, rather than just an addition to the corner of the women’s department. It truly is separated from the rest of the store, so it makes it feel like a cool man cave down the bottom of it all!
Talking of man caves, the style concierge area is insane, with large changing rooms and the perfect lighting, your pro-stylist will help you to find everything you need. There’s no minimum spend and there’s plenty of space for your mates to kick their feet up, have a drink from the private bar and watch some sports or play on the consoles attached to the sleek wall-mounted televisions! They really are super cool, and I am loving the houndstooth couches!
The contemporary styling is carried right across the two-floor department, with different theming in the different sections. The tailoring is all in one place, with suggested shirting, shoes and accessories, great for the busy man who just wants to be able to visualise an outfit in one space, rather than having to trail around the store looking for a pair of shoes. The denim room has a really cool feature, it’s sort of an ‘everyday essentials’ section, with various jeans, white tees, leather jackets and jumpers, you can simply walk around the section, completing your look at ease!
I’ve got another little exclusive for you right here, opening in May is something called Project 109. This innovative new space will house the very latest in gifts, technology, sunglasses, fragrance and grooming, plus an installation area, which will showcase a series of pop-ups and immersive experiences offering customers inspiration at every turn - as well as this, there will also be a barbers and a cafe that’ll turn into a classy bar for the evening…this new department is more than just about style, it’s about the whole men’s lifestyle experience, ensuring you’re catered for in every way!
The whole department has a gallery-esque feel to it, you can see how much effort and thought has gone into the vast 28,000 square foot store, to ensure it’s working effectively for the modern man. You’ll be blown away by the collection of brands available, I certainly was! From Corneliani and Oscar Jacobson in tailoring and exclusive collections from Blood Brother and Pier Wu, there’s actually something for every type of guy in the new Harvey Nichols menswear department at their flagship on Knightsbridge. It’s well worth a visit, even just to check out the fantastic array of brands on offer!
So something new dropped through the door this week from a company called Letterbox Gifts - they’re actually a pretty awesome company and I love the concept of what they do.
You head to their website letterboxgiftshop.com and pick the gift you want to send someone - these are all set up in boxes that can be posted…because missing a parcel delivery is possibly the most irritating thing on earth! So, there’s a few different boxes you can pick from including the Mother’s Day box, The Tea box and The Signature box, the one I received was The Gentleman’s Box.
The quality of gifts inside is nice, it’s like a little hamper of quality products for men. So, what do you get> Let have a little looky, ey...
Betty & Dodge – English Oak ‘Man Cave’ Key Ring.
Bath House – Cuban Cedar & Lime Wash Bar.
Men’s Society – Handsome Hand Cream.
Willie’s Cacao – Colombian Gold Chocolate Bar.
Fellows Essential Gentleman – Autumn Warmth Beard Oil.
It’s a nice little collection of stuff and it’s all quite traditional and rustic looking. It’s great for a little birthday gift for the man who has everything. The great thing with the service is that you can also have a custom printed message sent to the recipient - this box itself costs £23.95, I’d say that’s a relatively fair amount for the quality of the products that the box contains.
Okay, so my reviews are always honest and there’s a little something I picked up on which I’m not a fan of - the Bath House Cuban Cedar & Lime Wash Bar smells great and is a weighty piece of soap…however, on the ingredients section of the bar it clearly says that the product is not suitable for use by nut allergy sufferers. I myself am horribly allergic to nuts and wouldn't have thought twice about using it as you wouldn't expect a bar of soap to carry a warning like that. I personally would like to see this detailed on letterboxgiftshop.com as you probably don't want to really be sending someone a product that could give them an allergic reaction!
Today’s blog photo’s were taken on the Canon G7 X - a super-powerful point-and-shoot! Click here to buy it from Currys!
You hear that? That is indeed ‘da sound of da police’ - I’ve teamed up again with lifestyle brand Police for another blog post - if you remember back in the summer we worked on some cool sunglasses photoshoots, well it’s winter and whilst sunnies are still very much okay to wear…you might want to focus more around the wrist, I’m talking watches.
This right here is the London watch from Police’s latest collection. It’s a really nice quality watch, it’s got a bit of weight to it so it doesn’t feel like you’re going to lose it in the first high wind. It feels really comfortable to wear and doesn't feel too big on your wrist, some watches are just a bit ridiculous and it feels like you’re wearing a goddamn grandfather clock on your wrist.
It’s a great watch to add to your collection, especially if like me, you’re currently following the camel coat trend as the London looks pretty dapper with a suit and a camel long coat.
You’ll never forget what day it is, it’s got a handy little date window so you can easily plan your next night on the town. It’s just a really cool watch, it’s got nothing crazy and special about it and that’s what makes it really awesome…it’s simple and sometimes that’s the suavest way to be!
If you want to buy this watch you can, I’ve seen it on a few different websites, H Samuels being one - I picked them because I know how reliable they are especially for altering and link removal. You can click here to check it out on their website. Or, if you’re just browsing you can click here to head to the official Police webpage.
If you’ve missed my rather specs-tacular blog series in partnership with Vision Express then I have some fantastic news…it’s back! A few weeks back I headed to London to meet with my chums from Vision Express at their awesome Oxford Street store. We’re actually working on a really cool idea together which right now I can’t tell you about but whilst I was there I picked out a few pairs of new glasses (seriously I am going to have to open a Vision Express store in my house to fit them all in soon!)Read More
I have to wear glasses all day every day, when I was younger it used to wear pretty thin, I couldn't wear the sunglasses everyone else had and quite frankly, a looked like a rip-off Harry Potter…those round wire glasses were the story of my childhood, I got my first pair aged four…I was literally walking in to things before, my parents didn't know if I was blind or just plain thick…no need to comment on that one.Read More
It’s Saturday and if you don’t know what that means by now then hand your head in shame! It’s another instalment of the Cocktail Club and this weeks didn't quite go to plan when I created and shot it. I found a recipe and had all the gubbins to make it…however the recipe was in Spanish…I speak good vacation Spanish - alcohol Spanish could do with some improvement. Basically, long story short, I had zero clue what the heck I was doing and ended up making a really strong drink (it burned to the soul. For real.) Don't feat, I have got all the correct measurements and adapted it slightly below for you to try out!Read More
